Courses - FAQs

Deliver engaging learning and development content with Courses

Q. How do courses work?

Courses work by guiding users through one of more documents, and tracking their completion using badges.

  • To begin, you must have one of more documents that contain at least one assessment that awards a badge.
  • A course can then be created by selecting one or more badges that must be earned by the user.
  • Users are assigned to a course using an Expected Visitor List, and access the course through a landing page.
  • All required badges must be earned to complete the course.

Q. What do I need before creating a course in PageTiger?

Before setting up a course, you need:

  • At least one document with an assessment that awards a badge.
  • A landing page.
  • At least one expected visitor list.

The above is essential to ensure your course functions correctly.

Q. Can I customise the appearance of a course?

Yes! When creating a course, a course image and banner can be uploaded to match your organisation’s branding or requirements.

Q. What size should the course image be?

The course image should have a 1:1 aspect ratio and be between 100px and 500px in size.

JPEG, GIF, and PNG files are supported.

Q. Do documents need a specific Security Rule?

Yes - a supported security rule, such as SSO, Reader Login or Employee number must be used. Without this, the course won’t work correctly.

Q. How do I add badges to a course?

In the 'Badges' tab:

  • Select a badge from the dropdown.
  • Click “Add”.
  • Repeat for all required badges.
  • Arrange them in the desired order.

This defines the learning path and completion requirements.

Q. Can I control the order of course completion?

Yes! Drag and re-order badges in the 'Badges' tab to set the priority or sequence users should follow.

Q. What happens after a badge is earned?

After earning a badge in a document, a toast notification will display in the bottom-right corner, and the user can return to the course screen or continue viewing the document.

Q. Can users view previously earned badges?

Yes! Earned badges will display in the user MyAccount dashboard, and include details such as the date earned and expiry date.

Q. What is an Expected Visitor List (EVL)?

An EVL is a list of email addresses - read more about EVL's.

Q. Why is an Expected Visitor List (EVL) needed in a PageTiger Course?

EVLs are essential as they determine who is assigned to a course.

If no Expected Visitor List is added, users will not be able to access the course.

Q. How do I share the course to my users?

Once your documents and landing page are published, share the landing page URL with the people you want to access the course. They will log in via the landing page and can begin the course.

Q. What is a landing page and what should it look like?

A landing page is the main entry point to a course - once users log in, a toast notification will appear in the bottom-right corner, informing them of any badges waiting to be earned. From here, they can jump straight to their MyAccount page, which will show the courses available to them for completion.

Q. How do users access a course?

Once you have published a course:

  • Share the landing page link with users.
  • They then log in via the landing page and can access the course from there or through their My Account dashboard.

Q. How do users access their courses after logging in?

  • Via the landing page or their 'My Account' dashboard if they are already logged in.

  • Users will also see a toast notification in the bottom-right corner, highlighting available courses or badges, and providing a quick link to start learning.

Q. How do users access the “My Account” page?

Users typically access it via a notification that appears after visiting the course landing page. This notification includes a direct link to their “My Account” area.

Users can also open their My Account area by selecting the person icon in the toolbar.

Q. What is the “My Account” page used for?

The MyAccount page is a secure area where users can log in to view a dashboard of their courses to complete, a history of assigned courses, documents previously viewed, and badges earned from documents.

Q. What information can users see in their dashboard?

Users can see their assigned courses, progress status, badges to earn, and completed achievements from their dashboard.

Q. How are users notified about their courses?

Users receive on-screen toast notifications, usually in the bottom-right corner, to let them know when a course becomes available or when they have made progress.

Q. Can I automate reminder emails to be sent for a course?

Yes! Enterprise clients can enable notification emails to remind users about outstanding badges or incomplete courses.
