QR codes for versions

Point to the content intended with a version QR code

Generate a version QR code to open a specific version of a document, even if newer versions are published in the document afterwards. This is useful when different versions of a document need to stay separate and accessible in their own right - for example, keeping a specific year's staff handbook available for audit purposes, or making sure a printed poster links back to the campaign version it was designed for.

This page focuses on version QR codes -  follow this link if you want to create a QR code for a document link.

Version QR Code

A version QR code opens a specific version of a document, regardless of which version is most recently published.

  • Navigate to a version within the document.
  • Select the 'QR Code' button found next to the version link.

  • Once generated, the QR Code can be downloaded and used straight away.

URL changes

One of the main advantages of a QR Code is that it remains valid even after it's been generated. If you rename the version URL, the QR Code will continue to work exactly as expected.

This means you can:

  • Update the version URL at any time, without needing to update printed materials.

  • Avoid sending replacement links to people who already have the QR Code.

  • Skip the cost and hassle of recalls or reprints.
