INSIGHTS

Delivering and Maintaining Content Through Your LMS

Dynamic SCORM allows learners to access engaging PageTiger content directly within their learning management system, while the content itself continues to be managed and updated in PageTiger. Once your SCORM package has been uploaded, future content updates can be published in PageTiger without needing to create and upload a brand-new package every time.

Preparing Your Document

Before creating your SCORM package, there are a few important checks to complete to help ensure your content displays and tracks correctly within your LMS:

  • Assessment module: If you'd like assessment scores passed into your LMS, your document will need to contain an Assessment module.
  • Publish your document: Make sure the latest version of your document has been published via Manage Version.
  • Enable iFrame: Depending on your setup, you may need to enable iFrame support (under the Details tab) to ensure your document displays correctly within your LMS.
  • Security rule: If you need to track reader email addresses in your PageTiger analytics, apply a security rule to your document that captures the email.

Once these checks are complete, open the LMS tab within your document to find the Dynamic SCORM options.

Generating Your SCORM Package

From the LMS tab, choose whether you'd like to generate a SCORM 1.2 or SCORM 2004 package.

You can then optionally set a Mastery Score. For example, entering 80 means a learner must achieve 80% to have the activity marked as passed. If left blank, the document will instead be marked as complete once the learner reaches the final page.

Once you're happy with your settings, click Generate SCORM Package to download the ZIP file. The SCORM package acts as a launcher, allowing your LMS to display the PageTiger document seamlessly for learners. It will always show the latest published version of your document.

Uploading to Your LMS

Within your LMS course:

  1. Turn editing on.

  2. Click Add an activity or resource and select SCORM package.

  3. Upload the ZIP file you downloaded from PageTiger.

  4. Configure any activity settings required, such as availability dates or completion tracking.

  5. Click Save and display.

Your Dynamic SCORM activity is now ready for learners to access.

The Learner Experience

When a learner launches the activity, they can access the PageTiger content directly through the LMS and interact with it exactly as they would within PageTiger, including videos, interactive content, and assessments.

Once the learner reaches the final page, a Submit Results banner appears. Selecting this sends the completion information back to the LMS.

Reporting and Analytics

Reporting information, including assessment scores, completion status, and learner progress, can be tracked within your LMS's own reporting or gradebook area.

Analytics also continue to be captured within PageTiger itself, helping you monitor engagement and learner activity across both systems. Page views and assessment scores can be passed into your LMS gradebook for streamlined reporting.

Updating Your Content

One of the key benefits of Dynamic SCORM is simplified content maintenance. Rather than rebuilding and re-uploading a new SCORM package every time content changes, you can simply update the original PageTiger document.

We recommend following best practice by creating a new document version before making any changes. Once your updates have been published, learners accessing the activity through your LMS will automatically see the latest published version, helping reduce LMS administration while ensuring learners always have access to the most up-to-date training content.

FAQs

What is Dynamic SCORM?

Dynamic SCORM is a way of packaging content so it can be delivered reflecting live updates within any SCORM-compliant LMS, rather than being locked as a static, one-off export like traditional SCORM. PageTiger generates a Dynamic SCORM package for your documents, so learners always see the latest published version in their LMS, without you needing to repackage or reimport it.

Which LMS platforms does Dynamic SCORM work with?

Dynamic SCORM works with any SCORM 1.2 or SCORM 2004 compliant LMS, including platforms such as Moodle. Discover more LMS platforms supported by PageTiger,

Do I need to choose between SCORM 1.2 and SCORM 2004?

Yes. When generating your package, you'll select whichever format is compatible with your LMS. Both are supported directly from the LMS tab of your document.

What does the Mastery Score do?

The Mastery Score is an optional setting that defines the percentage a learner must achieve to have the activity marked as passed. If left blank, the activity is instead marked as complete once the learner reaches the final page.

Do I need an Assessment module for Dynamic SCORM to work?

Only if you want assessment scores passed into your LMS. If your document doesn't include an Assessment module, learner completion can still be tracked, but no score data will be sent.

Will I need to enable iFrame support?

Depending on your LMS setup, you may need to enable iFrame support (found under the Details tab) to ensure your document displays correctly within the LMS.

Can I still track analytics in PageTiger once content is in my LMS?

Yes. Your LMS handles pass/fail status and scores, and these completions can also be monitored in PageTiger Analytics. PageTiger Analytics goes further, showing how learners engage with the document - like where they drop off, so you can spot where the content itself could be improved.

Do I have to create a new SCORM package every time I update my content?

No, this is one of the main benefits of Dynamic SCORM. Once your package is uploaded to your LMS, you can update the PageTiger document itself. As soon as the update is published, learners will automatically see the latest version without any changes needed on the LMS side.
