Translating a document with PageTiger
In this video tutorial, you'll learn how to translate a Master Document into multiple languages using PageTiger's AI Translation Suite, apply a Glossary to keep brand names and key terms consistent, review translated content side-by-side with the original, and publish and track each language version.
Before you start
If you haven't created a PageTiger document yet, start with our Basic Training Series to create a native-language document to translate.
What's been covered:
-
How to turn a Master Document into multiple language versions using PageTiger's AI Translation Suite.
-
How Document Settings, styles, menus, and security rules carry across into every translated version.
-
How to build and apply a Glossary File to keep brand names and key terms consistent.
-
How to review translated content side-by-side with the original for accuracy before publishing.
-
How to securely distribute and track each language version using PageTiger Analytics.
Scaling Your Content for Global Audiences
Once your document is built and published in its native language, PageTiger's Translations feature lets you create, manage, and track additional language versions, all from the same document, without rebuilding anything from scratch.
Creating a Master Document
Every translation starts from your Master Document: the original, native-language version of your PageTiger document. Once this is finished, reviewed, and published, you're ready to generate a translated copy.
- Navigate to your document and select Manage Version.
- Choose Translate to open the Translations panel.
- Select the language you want to translate into from the available list.
Because the translated version is generated directly from the Master Document, any structural changes, layout, or interactivity you've built stays the same. Only the content changes language.
Choosing a Translation Method
PageTiger gives you two ways to translate a document, so you can fit it around the workflow you already use:
- AI Translation: PageTiger's built-in AI Translation Suite translates your document automatically, in minutes, into any of the 30+ supported languages.
- XLIFF Import: If you use an existing translation team or third-party service, export your document as an XLIFF file, send it to your translator, then import the completed file back into PageTiger to generate the new version.
Both routes place translated text directly into the correct panels of your document, so nothing needs to be rebuilt or reformatted afterwards.
Building a Glossary
A Glossary File is a list of key terms, brand names, product names, or technical language, paired with your preferred translation for each one. Adding a glossary before you translate ensures these terms stay consistent every time, rather than being translated differently across pages or versions.
This is particularly useful for:
- Company and product names you don't want translated at all.
- Industry or compliance terminology that needs a specific, approved translation.
- Recurring phrases in policies, handbooks, or onboarding content.
Translating Document Settings
Translation isn't limited to visible text. The settings that shape how your document behaves also translate, so the whole experience feels native to your reader, including:
- Menus and navigation.
- Security rules, such as passwords or SSO.
- Styles and accessibility settings.
- Video subtitles.
Reviewing Translated Content
Before publishing, PageTiger lets you compare the translated version against the original side-by-side, so you can check accuracy, tone, and formatting in context rather than reading a flat document. You can:
- Edit text directly on the page where a translation needs adjusting.
- Flag lines for a colleague or reviewer to check later.
- Generate a temporary link to send to a multilingual colleague for review or approval, without needing to give them full PageTiger access.
Publishing and Distributing Translations
Once you're happy with a translated version, publish it the same way you would any other PageTiger document. Each language version gets its own secure link, so you can distribute the right version to the right audience.
Managing Versions and Analytics
Every translated version lives inside the same document, alongside the Master Document and any other language versions, so you can manage updates in one place rather than juggling separate files. PageTiger Analytics tracks each version individually, giving you visibility on:
- Visitors and page views per language.
- Engagement and interactivity.
- Which language versions are performing best.
Translating Your AI Avatar
If your document includes an AI Avatar, you can upload a translated script and select the matching language and accent for your presenter to speak in. Note that automated translation covers video subtitles automatically, but your Avatar's voice will stay in the original language until you update the script and language settings yourself.

FAQs
How do I translate my documents in PageTiger?
Create your document in your native language as normal, then generate a new version using either PageTiger's AI Translation or an XLIFF import. Before publishing, review the translated version to check the messaging, tone, and layout are accurate and consistent.
What languages are available?
Over 30 languages are currently available in PageTiger. The number available to you depends on your pricing plan.
How do I know if the translation of my document is accurate?
PageTiger has a built-in review process that lets you compare translations side-by-side against the original document, so you can flag or edit anything that needs adjusting. You can also generate temporary links to send documents to multilingual colleagues for review and approval.
Can I track how each translated version is performing?
Yes. PageTiger Analytics provides insights into visitors, page views, and engagement for every language version, so you can see which versions are performing best.
Am I charged per translation?
No, PageTiger doesn't charge per translation. Your available languages depend on your plan, with optional add-ons available.
Can I still use my existing translation tools?
Yes. You can translate outside of PageTiger using XLIFF — export your text, translate it with your own team or provider, then import it back in to generate the new version. (Translations feature is required for this integration).
Will my AI Avatar be translated?
You can upload a translated script and choose the matching language and accent for your AI Avatar to speak in. Automated translation covers video subtitles, but your Avatar's voice stays in the original language until you update the script and language settings yourself.
